Welcome to Kat’s Coolers blog. This is our place to showcase how our coolers are being used in the field. Additionally, we’ll keep you up to date on what’s works and what doesn’t as we grow and develop. We welcome your feedback, guidance and suggestions. Thanks for participating.

I love Strippers... -- 26-March

I just picked up a pair of strippers.

Wire Strippers.

What did you think I was talking about? Found them on Amazon.

I really disliked my old pair of wire strippers and I was badly in need of something new.  So looking around, I stumbled on these on amazon and they had good reviews.

Powerwerx Rocks! -- 11-February

I was never born to hold a soldering gun.  This I know.

Ages ago I used to spend hours hunched over a harness tool I built soldering up tiny connectors and making the wiring harnesses for these coolers.  I was never fast, and it was a frustrating experience.  I'd spend hours working and often times throw out countless scraps because I wasn't happy with how things looked or tested.  I had to find a better way.

So I asked everyone I knew, and it was a buddy from the amature radio world that se...

Open Source Software... -- 16-December

This has nothing to do with coolers - but I encourage you to check it out anyway.

I am a big fan of open source software.  Open source software is software that rather than being built for profit, it is built by communities of developers looking to provide alternative solutions to common needs.  For every piece of commercial software, it is often easy to find an open source replacement.

Though sometimes open source software can be a little less commonly known - it is still oftentimes equally capable, or even better then the equiva...

Everyone loves a deal... -- 14-December

I get asked from time to time if we have any specials.

We do.

From time to time I build a test bed for new improvements.  Some work, some... um, not so much.  But either way, the wife likes to park her car in the garage - so I have to help these special units find a home...

So if your interested in something that may not be asthetically perfect - yet will be fully functional - drop me a line, and maybe we can cut you a deal on one of these special units.

just a thought...

Happy Thanksgiving... -- 25-November

It's a brutal economy folks. Help someone who needs it this holiday season as one day they might return the favor.

Take time to remember - it is not about the bank balance.  All that matters is your family, your friends, and memories you make.

Everything else is just parsley.

Now go eat turkey.

Mercedes 300SD -- 21-November

So I kinda have a thing for old Mercedes diesels.

They are not fast.  Zero to sixty you could measure with a calendar - I was told by a friend.  But they have a certain sound, and a special feel.

Mercedes built cars like nobody else.  They kinda smell like old airplanes.  Part leather, part wood, some grease, the scent of diesel... and not a computer chip in them.  I really like these cars... so when the opportunity to get a clean, one owner 1985 300SD came up - I jumped at the chance.

Battery Power! -- 20-November

I was asked about battery power.

Some aircraft owners discover their cigarette lighter plug has gone unused, and unmaintained for too many years.  Corrosion builds up, and the electrical connections are poor.  This can be a challenge with some airplanes.  Other owners have reported that their cigarette lighters have been disconnected by Airworthiness Directives in the past.  No matter what the problem there is an inexpensive solution to this.

A good work around is a separate battery power supply.  I picked up a...

Kat Box in a Cessna 210 -- 19-November

As I've mentioned, I run around alot in a Cessna 210.  I used to fly a 182 but I love this Centurion... I also flew quite a few Pipers, and plenty of products from Beechcraft  - but I really enjoy this current plane.  Sure the handling of it isn't quite like the Bonanaza, but it'll haul anything you can close the doors on, and it's plenty stable with reasonable speed - given a good autopilot, and you have a good cross country machine.  Plus, I was a cargo pilot - a freight dog - so I am partial to airplanes that can haul for a living if they have to.<...

Well, we turned it on. -- 12-November

I have been selling these offline, through ebay, and on the hanger row using old fashioned handshakes for a little while now... but today marks a change.

I've flipped the switch and opened the website for business.

I imagine this place will be a ghost town for a while, and I bet it still has more bugs then a Palm Springs rental home... but you never get things going unless you start.

I hope you will bear with me while I figure this out, and if you can't make the website work - simply pick up the phone and call me...
